Semper Fi

During World War I, German soldiers referred to the Marines as “teufel-hunden,” which translates into “devil dogs.” This did not offend the Marines who embraced the image and subsequently created recruitment posters with a growling English bulldog wearing a Marine battle helmet. The idea of this unofficial mascot stuck and still exists today.

English Bulldogs symbolize the ethos of the Warrior Culture of the U.S. Marines.
