One of my mother’s oft-repeated lines was, “Do not feed ONE MORE stray dog, OH, isn’t he CUTE.” One cold morning, I walked into the kitchen to find her warming milk for the most recently-adopted mutt. I stood there giving her my WHAT? look. She got a sheepish grin on her face and said, “Well, he’s been outside and he’s cold.” She confessed this was not the first time he’d had warm milk, but she’d always prepared it after I’d gone to school. ๐Ÿ™‚
